Family Promise of Spokane has been serving homeless families for the past 21 years by partnering with the interfaith community to provide meals, housing, case management and a community to love and encourage these families back into homes. Family Promise expanded our program in 2016 with a 24/7 Family Emergency Shelter, the first of its kind in Spokane. Our goal with the shelter is to provide a non-judgemental, respectfully compassionate, welcoming place where families can receive the help and encouragement they need.

Supervisor (Part Time):
We are looking for compassionate and highly motivated people to fill Part-Time Supervisor positions. Supervisors will be responsible for overseeing all of the day-to-day aspects of the day shelter during their shift. If you love thinking through how to get things done, creating checklists, and teaching others how to follow them; then this job is for you!

Potential Supervisor Shifts Available:
Shift 1: Sun. - Tue. 7:00am - 1:30pm & Wed. 12:30 pm - 2:30pm ( 21.5 hrs/week)
Shift 2: Sun. - Tue. 1:15pm - 7:30pm & Wed. 12:15pm - 7:30pm (26 hrs/week)
Shift 3: Wed. 7:00am - 2:30pm & Thu.- Sat. 7:00am - 1:30pm (27 hrs/week)
Shift 4: Wed. 12:30pm - 2:30pm & Thu.-Sat. 1:15pm - 7:30pm ( 21 hrs/week)

Shelter Leadership and Ongoing Responsibilities:

General
Create and maintain a welcoming, friendly and safe environment for all families, volunteers, and partners
Oversee the day-to-day functions of the shelter which include providing access for families to all services ( showers, laundry, kitchen, storage, supplies, and laptops)
Oversee cleaning and maintenance schedule of the facility
Conduct daily house meetings whereby shelter values and rules are reiterated
Attend weekly staff meetings to resolve issues and receive updates within the shelter
Prioritize the security of the shelter to ensure it is a safe place for parents and their children to stay
Provide accurate documentation for all incidents and emergencies
Answer incoming phone calls to shelter

Families ( Guests)
Create an encouraging, loving, and empowering environment for families
Provide case management services and advocate for guests
Come alongside guests to provide referrals and brainstorm solutions for overcoming barriers
Complete intakes for new arrivals, ensure they are notified about shelter operation schedule and policies
Maintain guest confidentiality and abide by all privacy regulations
Track guest info on the Homeless Management Information System and maintain case files with up-to-date information
Conduct necessary disciplinary actions for non-compliant guests and de-escalate tense situations

Volunteers
Train volunteers to perform duties with confidence and provide them with tasks and projects
Host volunteer groups, give tours, and oversee the service projects
Ensure all volunteers sign-in and out, give feedback at the end of their shifts, and that they are thanked!

Skills and Attributes (Ideal Supervisor candidates will):
Be comfortable relating to homeless families and people from diverse backgrounds
Work independently, as well as collectively with guests, volunteers, and staff
Have a servant's heart
Be punctual and prepared
Maintain professional boundaries with guests

Education and Experience Required
At least 1-year direct volunteer or paid experience working with homeless individuals and families.
Experience in program management or social services is a plus
Education or Experience Equivalent to a BA in Social Work or Related area (or BA with minor in related areas) such as Human Services, Organizational Leadership, or Social Administration is plus
Other combinations of applicable education and experience will be considered.

Supervisor Shift 1 & 3
Morning supervisors will have the additional responsibility of case management. Therefore, ideal candidates for Shift 1 & 3 will have:
Strong case management skills
Working knowledge of Spokane's resources and social services
At least 1 year experience in a case management or human services role
A bachelor's degree in social services or related field.

Starting Pay: $13/ hour
